quote of the day

It’s not about bending the laws of physics at all, it’s about understanding hearing and utilizing psychoacoustics. – bootsy

  1. What do I think? I think you nailed it! Cheers!

  2. Once you understand how hearing works, and you realise it is as fallible to the ‘illusions’ that the eye is: Masking, Fletcher-Munson et al, etc. then, you can begin to deal with the science of psychoacoustics. Of course it is raw to start with and the results will be imperfect, but they can be refined over time.

Having had the great benefit of being blind and being deaf, partially at different times in my life, I feel I can at least say, that maybe I don’t know, but I don’t take anything for granted. Every photon at a different wavelength is a blessing, as is every soundwave (what are they called then?), at a different frequency. And the neural network pattern matching system to tell the difference.

Visual art? Playing in the garden of light. Music? Playing in the garden of sound. Philosophy (almost what we are doing here?) Playing in the garden of the mind.

Always best to do these things amongst friends.
