NastyVCS – virtual console strip

NastyVCS

virtual console strip

I’m really proud to announce the NastyVCS virtual console strip which finally brings the beloved “nasty” signal coloration series onto the next level.

Build entirely new around an opto-electric style compression unit, NastyVCS offers everything you need to shape your channels dynamics and tone. It offers a dedicated input stage featuring crunchy pre-amp saturation and a brickwall safety limiter  in the output stage while everything is set up to work in zero latency and so to have it available for hassle free tracking and mixing. Two dedicated filters can be used in either the audio path or in the compressors sidechain which can be external as well. [Read more…]

from phasing to phase alignment

In the recent article about audio signal coloration I’ve already talked about the importance of the signals phase response in respect to the perceived tonal spectrum and today I’m going straight ahead towards phase alignment and how a signal delay relates to the phase response. But first let’s have a look at some nice youtube stuff showing Jonathan Little on demonstrating his Little Labs IBP phase alignment tool.

FerricTDS 1.5 beta, when?

I’m currently preparing the bits for the upcoming FerricTDS beta test. Since this beta is going to be public nobody needs to apply for joining the party, just come back here during the next days or so, pick up a copy and have a ride with it (and give feedback of course). The version number jumps from 1.0.2 straight to 1.5 which indicates some vast improvements under the hood. I’m already really excited about this one.

Meanwhile, the posts here have been read half a million times and some posts even received more than hundred comments. Occasionally, this Blog hits the Top 100 WordPress list – on balance not too bad for the very first year. [Read more…]

NastyXTC – Vaporware?

Some folks are asking me from time to time if and when the NastyXTC thingy will ever see the public light. Atm, the short answer still is: I really dunno.
While the original NastyXTC design was mainly a transient EQ sort of thing, I extended it concept wise to become a rather complete “transient workbench” solution in a small but flexible modular effects system. Despite of the amount of work necessary to accomplish this, there are still some essential and fundamental technical concepts not yet really explored by me. [Read more…]

epicVerb release 1.5 is on the way

epicVerb

epicVerb

An important major update for the epicVerb digital reverberation simulator is (almost) done and will be released in the beginning of December 2009. It not only features some bugfixes and major stability improvements but also some re-worked algorithms which supports way more dense and three-dimensional reverberation processing.
