NastyDLA mkIII β classic chorus echo with tape-delay simulation
The mkIII version fulfils some of the most wanted improvements, especially adding oversampling and VST3 support. In addition, many details under the lid have been polished or upgraded to state-of-the-art signal processing, further improving compression, gain staging and cross feedback delay modes. This release fixes also several bugs and all details can be found in the included release notes or in the revised manual.
The mkIII update is available for Windows in VST and VST3 format as freeware. Download your copy here.
wow this is just so good ..thank you very much
I love this delay unit, it is my main delay unit in all my productions.
I wonder are patches compatible with MkII versions.
I understand that sound quality is your main focus in developing and updating this plugin. One thing I would find super useful in extending the usefulness of this delay, would be an implementation of MIDI cc learn for the knobs. I like to do “dub” effects and this delay has just the right sound for this effect.
Thanks for your great plugins.
Thanks for your feedback!
… oh, I just read, patch compatibility will be broken with older MkII version. Not a big problem. Easy to copy them visually since both versions can run simultaneously. Thanks
Typo in the doc: “4.3 Understanding chorus and dealy modes” π
Thanks very much for this update.
NastyDLA has long been a centerpiece delay in the work here.
The VST3 is most welcome. Have you considered the CLAP format too?
Thanks very much! Can the oversampling be turned turned off? Is the GUI larger or can it be resized by any chance?
No, its fixed.
β€οΈ Wonderful! Thank you so much. π π ππ
It’s amazing, thanks Herbert/ VoS, ever my favourite !!!!

Absolutely top-notch stuff as usual Herbert you legend.
It improves upon its predecessor whilst retaining everything that makes it great.
So very much appreciated, as always sending best regards to yourself, your family & loved ones on behalf of my family and me, cheers man!
Dean and family
Thanks so much, Dean. And good to hear from you π
Thanks a lot!
Even as I’m working on a delay-based effect of my own in Flowstone, it delighted me to see this updated… the “VoS difference” in terms of allowing the producer to give analog familiarity and character to the listener within a DAW made NastyDLA my first go-to delay for a long time; always great to see devs from Ye Goode Olde Days continuing to update and release in 2023!
Thanks for the feedback!
This delay has the most pleasant distortion/saturation I’ve heard! Great to see some improvements to this legendary plugin π
Glad you like it!
I have previously installed several of your plugins before but this one will not load in Waveform or Reaper (vst3, 64bits, Windows 11).
Does the VST2 version run?
VST2 does not install too but “BootEQmkIII (64).dll” and “NastyDLAmkII (64).dll” do install and work fine…

Which Reaper version is that?
It is Reaper 6.8.2 x64 and Waveform 12.5.11 x64…

Thanks for the detailed report!
More details if it can help:
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 22H2
OS build 22621.2134
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22659.1000.0
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 5600U with Radeon Graphics 2.30 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.4 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Can’t say I ever noticed aliasing from this plug as I always used it for those thick low passed through zero analog delay effects. Still the best to do it in any plugin I have heard including UAD etc.
Your continued dedication is appreciated Herb
What a time to be alive!
Hey,
What state-of-the-art does mean here, exactly?
These refers to some DSP techniques/implementations used, e.g. specific types of filter designs.
Sorry to bother with technical issues, but I tried to join your discord and the link is expired. I’ve spent hours trying to get either one of my DAWs to recognize NastyDLA but neither one will recognize or open it no matter what file location I use or which version (32-bit, 64-bit) of NastyDLA that I try. I’m using Reaper 6.82 and Mixcraft 9.0 build 470. It’s so bizarre and frustrating that I can’t get it to work. I also tried installing FerricTDS and I’m having the same issue with that one not being recognized.
I have dozens of other plugins with no issues, but for some reason the VOS plugins just won’t open for me on either DAW. In Reaper if I go to Pref>Plugins>Rescan>Plugins That Failed To Scan I can see all the versions of both NastyDLA and FerricTDS listed there, so I know it’s seeing them in the folder, it just can’t open them. Same thing in Mixcraft — they show up in a folder called “Unable To Open.”
If you know of anything else I can try, please let me know. I have heard such great things about these plugins and wish I could use them.
I was able to figure it out. Posting the solution here since it was not easy to find.
VOS plugins seem to require the installation of Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 in order to run. If you do a search for exactly that “Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013” you will find the download page. I downloaded and installed both the x86 and x64 files and once I did that and then did a clear cache and rescan for plugins, they popped up in both Reaper and Mixcraft.
Yes !!!
Loading fine now !
Thanks !
Are there any plans to one day integrate into mac? Please…… LOL
You know I waited years before switching to mac because I couldn’t give up NastyDLA. I’ve found a very complex way to still use it on mac now with crossover. But its a headache. I genuinely would pay premium price to have this baby back on all my tracks how I used to do it.
