ThrillseekerLA – the short story behind

The Oscar credit for the most addictive GUI artwork goes to Patrick once again.

There are actually two stories behind the ThrillseekerLA venture: One being the creation of a cutting edge compressor design for the digital domain while the other one is about taking a huge leap forward on my journey towards stateful saturation.

Why another compressor? To cut a long story short: There was a huge demand and lots of folks were asking for such a concept to be implemented in high quality but being available under a freeware license. On top, lots of compressor implementations still fall short, for example regarding the insufficient handling of IM distortion and that was itching me for quite some time.

The Interstage section – bringing sexy back

If a digital compressor design is also dealing with non-linear affairs the things are getting even worse and not seldom not only aliasing is introduced but also the stereo image remains flat and boring. This is where the stateful handling of non-linear systems chimes in to bring sexy back and this is performing first with ThrillseekerLA. Two further plug-in releases are already planned to take advantage of this exciting technology too.

The release of ThrillseekerLA is scheduled for early March 2012.

The “Mix-Level” is probably a way to set where the “sweet spot” of the plugin is…
So it’s your reference level (0VU on the plugin equal 0dBFS or -18dBFS)
I was waiting this for a long time in VoS plugins…

Patrick is a real talent – That gui looks better then alot of $200+ plug-ins.
And if this thing sound as good as any of your other plug-ins, this will probably be not only the freebie of the year, but might also be the plug-in of the year.

Since we can’t donate I hope some millionare is paying all involved to make these plug-ins, they are to good to be free!
